STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH | SUNY CORTLAND |  QUEENSBURY, NY

PROFILE: Will Groff is entering his third season as an assistant coach with the Glens Falls Golden Eagles. He joined head coach John Mayotte's staff as an assistant coach last season. The 2010 Golden Eagles finished in third place in the New York Collegiate Baseball League's Eastern Division and then swept second-seeded Oneonta in the Eastern Division semifinals. While the 2011 season will be Groff's second in a coaching role, it will be his fourth with the organization. He played for the inaugural Golden Eagles team in 2004 and then again in 2005.

Groff, a native of Queensbury, N.Y., is a graduate of the State University of New York at Cortland. Groff played collegiately for the Red Dragons from 2004 through 2006. He was the State University of New York Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2006. Groff batted .464 in his final collegiate season with 77 hits, 54 runs scored, 29 stolen bases and a .534 on-base percentage. The speedster also played one season of football for the Red Dragons in 2003. He was a kick returner and brought back two kicks for touchdowns, one of which went for 100 yards against St. John Fisher in an ECAC postseason game.

The Cortland State outfielder was chosen by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 29th round of the 2006 Major League Baseball draft. Groff went on to play professionally in 2007 for the New York-Penn League's Batavia Muckdogs, a short-season affiliate of the Cardinals. He then competed briefly for the Can-Am League's Nashua Pride in 2008.
