Bahramzedah Leads Golden Eagles to Sixth Straight 'W'

Matt Arietta

Glens Falls Golden Eagles

July 31, 2011

Amsterdam, NY - Sunday, your Glens Falls Golden Eagles traveled to Amsterdam, NY to take on Eastern Conference rival, the Amsterdam Mohawks in what was being coined, “The Biggest Game in League History”. Coming into yesterday’s game, your Glens Falls Golden Eagles retained a half game lead over the Mohawks in the East and a 4-2 lead in the head to head matchups on the season.

On the mound for Glens Falls in this one was Kansas State senior, Kayvon Bahramzedeh. Kayvon walked to the mound Sunday night, holding onto a 2-0 record on the season. Bahramzedeh, who plays his ball during the school year at Kansas State University, went five innings scattering six hits and allowing two runs (both earned). Kayvon also tallied up six strikeouts and only walked one of the twenty-two batters he faced in five innings.

On in relief of Bahramzedeh, would be P.J Leto (Lurleen B. Wallace CC). Leto, making his second appearance on the season, first since his five innings in relief on the twenty-third of July, continued to impress on the mound. Last night, Leto finished the game for the Golden Eagles pitching from the sixth inning on. Over the last four innings of play, Leto was able to hold the second place Mohawks to two runs solidifying the victory for the Golden Eagles. Also Leto was able to rack up eight strikeouts of the eleven batters he faced on the night, extending the team total to fourteen Mohawks fanned.

On the offensive, the Golden Eagles were led at the plate by a three hit performance from Josh Anderson (Yavapai). Anderson continued his transcendent season on offense by posting a single in the first and third inning, recording an RBI each time. He also had an RBI double in the seventh inning, extending his RBI total on the night to three. At the end of the game, Anderson would finish up with a three for five night, with two runs scored, and three RBIs.

The season continues today back at East field, where the Glens Falls Golden Eagles continue their hunt for home field advantage in the East division as we head into the playoffs on August 5th. Starting at 7pm, the Golden Eagles will face off against Mohawk Valley for the last time this season before heading to Amsterdam again tomorrow night, to try and lock up the East Title of the inaugural season of the PGCBL. Come out to East Field tonight to be a part of the excitement and root on your Glens Falls Golden Eagles!
