Falls, NY – With the PGCBL All Star break completed and the playoff
races heating up, it’s once again time to take a look at how some
Golden Eagles alumni are performing in professional baseball. This
article will focus on the Glens Falls alumni playing in Short-Season A
and Rookie League baseball. The final edition will center on the
former Golden Eagles playing Independent baseball. To read the first

#20
- Tony Dischler (2009) – RHP – Mahoning Valley
Scrappers
The
right-handed pitcher from LSU-Eunice was drafted in the 23rd
round of last summer’s draft by the Cleveland Indians.
Dischler was only able to make two starts last summer due to the
draft, but made the most of them allowing no earned runs. In his
first full professional season this year, the Rayne, LA native
has made 11 appearances out the Scrappers’ bullpen while
striking out 11 batters and maintaining a 4.57 ERA.

#32 – Chris Lashmet (2009-10) – 3B
– State College Spikes
A two-year
summer ballplayer with the Golden Eagles, Lashmet was selected
in this past month’s draft (33rd round) after a
collegiate career at Northwestern which placed him among the
Wildcats’ career leaders. After being named an All-Big-Ten
selection this spring, Chris “Moose” Lashmet began his
professional career in the Pittsburgh Pirates minor league
system. Currently, “Moose” is batting .277 with 23 hits and
a homerun in 22 games while manning the hot corner.

#12 – Nick McCoy (2008) – C –
Staten Island Yankees
A
San Diego native and graduate of the University of San Diego,
McCoy’s professional baseball career has taken place on the
east coast so far after being drafted in 2010 by the New York
Yankees and playing for the short-season Staten Island farm
team. McCoy finished his collegiate career with the Toreros
batting .315 with four homeruns and 35 RBI at the catcher
position. Last summer, McCoy posted a solid on-base-percentage
at .366 while slapping 14 hits in 20 games. In eight games so
far this season, McCoy has already earned three RBI for the
division-leading Yankees.

#12 – Jack Wagoner (2007) – RHP –
Mahoning Valley Scrappers
Drafted
in June’s MLB draft by the Cleveland Indians, Wagoner joins
fellow former Golden Eagle Tony Dischler in the Scrappers’
pitching staff. A criminal justice major at Florida Gulf Coast
University, Wagoner compiled a 5-3 record with a 4.34 ERA and a
solid 2.5 K/BB ratio this past spring for the Eagles. Wagoner
holds the single-season school record for saves with nine. He
has yet to pitch this summer after being drafted in the 33rd
round.

#20 – Shane Davis (2008) – LHP –
Vancouver Canadians
Another
former Golden Eagle drafted this past June, Davis, a native of
Belmont, Ontario, was selected in the 42nd round by
the Toronto Blue Jays. The Canisius College graduate was named
to the All-MAAC First Team twice during his career while also
racking up MAAC Pitcher of the Year, MAAC Rookie of the Year,
and All-American honors at various points during his time as a
Golden Griffin. Appearing in six games so far this summer, Davis
has recorded eight strikeouts with a 4.91 ERA.

#34 – Alex Pepe (2007) – LHP –
Vancouver Canadians
Joining
the Canadians two seasons before Davis, Pepe was selected in the
36th round of the 2009 draft by the Toronto Blue
Jays. Beginning his professional career with great success, the
Florida Atlantic graduate earned a 2.55 ERA with 22 strikeouts
in 17.2 innings. Last season was more difficult for Pepe as he
only pitched 12 innings while posting a 10.50 ERA. Rebounding
this summer though, Pepe has lowered his ERA to 5.40 while
striking out 29 batters in 26.2 innings.

#8 – Jon Koscso (2008) – 2B –
Princeton Rays
Yet
another one of the Golden Eagles drafted this year, Koscso
graduated this May from the University of Southern Florida with
a degree in biology and was accepted into USF’s college of
medicine. This past season the Tampa, FL native was named to the
All-Big-East First Team while leading the Bulls with a
.340/.447/.387 line. With the Rays this season, Koscso has a
.250/.423/.400 batting line with a homerun and three RBI. (UPDATE:
Koscso has been promoted to the short-season A Hudson Valley
Renegades)
