the current ballplayers of the Glens Falls Golden Eagles summer
collegiate baseball team play their first home game this evening, five
former Golden Eagles are on their way to professional baseball having
been drafted earlier this week by Major League Baseball teams. The MLB
draft selects over 1,500 of the best young ballplayers in the country
over the course of 50 rounds and three days.

Jon
Koscso, 3B, University of Southern Florida, (Glens Falls '08)
Selected in round 29 as the 900th overall pick
by the Tampa Bay Rays, Koscso was one of six USF Bulls drafted
this year tying a school record. Remarkably, Koscso started
consecutively in all 229 games since he joined the USF team as a
freshman playing third base. This past season he was named to
the All-Big-East First Team while leading the Bulls with a
.340/.447/.387 line. Koscso ranks among the all-time leaders in
numerous statistical categories for USF including hit-by-pitches
in which his 75 are the eighth most in NCAA history. This May,
Koscso graduated with a degree in biology and was accepted into
USF’s college of medicine showing his remarkable prowess both
on and off the field.

Chris
Lashmet, 3B, Northwestern University, (Glens Falls '09-'10)
A
four-year starter with the Northwestern Wildcats, Lashmet was
drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates as the 992nd
overall pick in the 33rd round. Named a second-team
All-Big-Ten selection at third base this past season, Chris
“Moose” Lashmet batted .353/.409/.495 while having a
nine-game hit streak including five-straight multi-hit games. As
with Kosco, Lashmet ranks among the career leaders at
Northwestern including the second-most doubles as a Wildcat with
49.

Jack
Wagoner, RHP, Florida Gulf Coast University, (Glens Falls '08)
With the 998th pick in the 33rd
round, the Cleveland Indians selected FGCU senior right-handed
pitcher Jack Wagoner. This past season, Wagoner, a criminal
justice major, made the transition from a relief pitcher to a
starter and performed admirably compiling a 5-3 record with a
4.34 ERA and a solid 2.5 K/BB ratio. Before the season began,
Wagoner was named to the NCBWA
Stopper of the Year Watch List for his work as a shut-down
relief pitcher setting the single-season school record for saves
with nine.

Rodarrick
Jones, OF, Southern University, (Glens Falls '09)
The second former Golden Eagle to be drafted by Pittsburgh in
this year’s draft, Rodarrick Jones was selected in the 37th
round as overall pick number 1,112. During his summer with Glens
Falls, Jones was selected as the No. 3 prospect in the NYCBL.
Playing for the University of New Orleans in 2009 and 2010,
Jones batted a combined .281/.350/.429 while leading the team in
stolen bases in 2009. This past season, Jones transferred to
Southern University requiring him to sit out a season of play
due to eligibility rules. Jones was also drafted by the Houston
Astros in 2008.

Shane
Davis, LHP, Canisius
College, (Glens Falls ’08)
The fifth Golden Eagle to be drafted this past week, Shane Davis
a left-handed starter from Canisius College was selected with
pick 1,279 in the 42nd round. The Belmont, Ontario
native was named to the All-MAAC First Team twice during his
career while also racking up MAAC Pitcher of the Year, MAAC
Rookie of the Year, and All-American honors at various points of
his time as a Golden Griffin. This past season, Davis led the
Canisius starters with five wins and a 3.23 ERA while posting a
3.11 K/BB ratio. Davis also holds the Canisius career records
for wins and complete games. This past year, Davis was working
on a Master’s degree in sport administration after graduating
with a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice last May.
