Glens Falls Golden Eagles
Mohawk Valley, NY Your Glens Falls Golden Eagles opened up the
2011 season Thursday, May 11th, 2011 against Eastern Conference foe,
the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs. The game took place at Mohawk
Valley’s Veteran's Memorial Park, and for those who went, the game
failed to disappointed. Although the end result did not leave the
Golden Eagles victorious, ending with a final score of 8-4 in favor of
the Diamond Dawgs, there were positive highlights that Golden
Eagles’ fans should enjoy hearing.
From an offensive standpoint, leadoff hitter as well
as starting right fielder,
John Rooney, from Siena slugged two hits, while third baseman, Josh
Anderson, (Yavapai College) racked up two hits of his own in the clean
up spot. Golden Eagles’, Ricky Claudio, outfielder and pitcher from
St. Thomas College and Zac Hawkins, utility player from LSU- Eunice,
contributed with a hit a piece, each driving in a run on the day.
On the bump, the loss went to starter Max MacNabb, a
lefty hurler from San
Diego. MacNabb went the first three and a third, striking out three
and walking one over that time span. The win was rewarded to Mohawk
Valley’s Logan Carmen, a lefty from Southern Maine, who over three
innings gave up one run on two hits, striking out four, while Mike
Bradstreet from Rhode Island was rewarded with the save.
The season continues today, Friday June 10th , with East Field’s
season
opener at 7pm against the Amsterdam Mohawks here in Glens Falls, NY.
Tickets for the game are five dollars and will be sold at the main
entrance gate of the stadium.
