ERIC PHILLIPS   INFIELDER   GEORGIA SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY

 

Highly regarded freshman has been extremely productive of late highlighted by his performance in a Southern Conference game vs. Elon on March 29. Eric went 3-for-5 with a double and a grand slam home run. He has raised his average to .333 with three doubles, one homer and 15 RBI.

 

NATHAN FORER   RHP   SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY

 

Nate has pitched effectively in his # 1 starter role for the Salukis. On March 28 vs. Creighton, he threw six and 2/3 innings, gave up six hits, two earned runs, walked three and struck out four but received no decision. On March 20 vs. Northern Iowa he pitched four and 2/3 innings, giving up six hits, one earned run, walked two and struck out two in an eventual SIU victory.

 

LANCE DURHAM    OF/1B   UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI

 

Lance continues his excellent play in the last two weeks. He is batting .462 (43-for-93) with a team leading 43 hits, and has five doubles, four home runs and 28 RBI. He leads the team in multi-hit games with 16 and has seven multi-RBI games as well. Lance’s average ranks # 2 in the Big East, his on base % (.537) ranks # 2 as well in the conference. He went 3-for-5 with four RBI, a double and one run vs. Kentucky on March 25. He was 3-for-4 with five RBI, a home run and a run scored vs. Wright State on 3/31.

 

PEPITO MORENO    SS   PIMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE

 

Pepito is batting .293 (34-for-116) with five doubles, two triples, two homers and 18 RBI.. He has a tremendous on base % of .590 with 26 walks and eight hit by pitches combined with his 34 hits. He is tied for 4th in the ACCAC with 32 runs scored.

 

NATE VALDEZ    INFIELDER   CENTRAL ARIZONA COLLEGE

 

Struggled early but starting to get back to his normal production. Nate has three two hit games in the past two weeks with a 2-for-3 game vs. Mesa College , a 2-for-2 game vs. Phoenix College with two RBI and a 2-for-2 vs. Skagit College on March 19th.

 

TYLER SMITH   INFIELDER   NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE

 

Excellent athlete who continues to make progress after turning from football to baseball full-time. He was 4-for-10 in a conference weekend series last weekend, including one double, three runs and an RBI. His highlight game was March 20 vs. New Mexico JC when he went 4-for-5 with a triple, two runs and one RBI. He has raised his average up to a season high .291.

 

CHRIS LASHMET   3B   NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY

 

Another resurgent performer the past several weeks. Chris’s highlight game was against Purdue on March 28 when he was 3-for-4 with his first home run, a two run single, one run and three RBI. He went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI vs. New Mexico on March 22nd. He has raised his average up to .241

 

ANTHONY GIANSANTI   OF/IF/P   SIENA COLLEGE

 

Anthony has been productive in MAAC play the past several weeks. He was 2-for-3 vs. Fairfield with one run and a homer on March 21,was 2-for-5 with a double, stolen base in game two on 3/21, was 3-for-5 with a homer and five RBI vs. Hofstra in a midweek contest on 3/24. Against Manhattan on 3/28 he was 2-for-4 with three runs scored, a double (#9) and a stolen base (#6). Anthony is batting .323 (32-for-99) with a team leading five home runs, team leading seven stolen bases and has five doubles and 13 RBI.

 

WILLIE BEARD   RHP   RUTGERS UNIVERSITY

 

Willie had an outstanding performance in a starting role vs. Cincinnati on March 27th at Rutgers . Willie pitched six innings and held Cincinnati to one hit while walking three and striking out six. He was pulled with one out in the seventh but the shutout disappeared with an eventual six run inning by the Bearcats. Willie has pitched 24 and 2/3 innings, has a 2-1 record with 19 strikeouts, holding batters to a .293 mark and has a 5.47 ERA.

 

FRANCIS BROOKE   RHP   NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY

 

Francis picked up his first collegiate save in a relief performance against Purdue on March 28th in Evanston IL . He threw three innings of one hit ball in a 13-4 Northwestern victory.

 

JERRY A’HEARN   RHP   CENTRAL ARIZONA COLLEGE

 

Jerry was 1-1 in the last two starts. He pitched three and 1/3 innings, giving up two hits, no earned runs in a 6-2 victory over Phoenix College and suffered a loss on March 19 vs. Skagit Valley (WA), pitching five innings, giving up two earned runs, walked one and struck out seven. Jerry has pitched 29 innings this spring season, allowing 27 hits, six earned runs, walking seven and striking out 29 batters. He has a 4-1 record and a 1.86 ERA.

 

JUSTIN ZUMWALDE   OUTFIELDER   PIMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE

 

Justin belted a three run home run in the top of the first inning and finished 3-for-4 with four RBI vs. Paradise Valley CC on 3/26 and had a homer, two hits, two runs vs. Madison Area Tech (WI) on March 18. He is tied for third in home runs in the ACCAC with five, has 11 doubles, two triples and has a slugging % of .640. Justin is hitting at a .333 clip with 26 RBI, ranked # 2 on the team in that category.

 

DANIEL WATTS   LHP   JACKSONVILLE STATE UNIVERSITY

 

Daniel raised his record to 2-0 with three innings of shutout baseball, allowing two hits, walked none and struck out two vs. Troy University in Troy (3/18). In a return midweek game vs. Troy in Jacksonville (AL) on 3/34, he started again and got the loss throwing two innings, allowed three hits, one earned run, walked one and struck out three. In a March 29th Ohio Valley Conference game vs. Austin Peay, he pitched three and 1/3 innings in relief, allowing three hits, one run, walked two and struck out three.

 

TONY DISCHLER   RHP   UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA MONROE

 

Tony raised his record to 2-1 with a midweek victory over Harvard on March 23rd. He pitched five and 2/3 innings and gave up five earned runs, walked two and struck out two in an eventual 10-8 win for ULM .

 

ANDREW BROWN   RHP   UNIVERSITY OF AKRON

 

Andrew made a midweek start against Pittsburgh on March 24th in Akron . He threw six innings as the starter and gave up three earned runs, walked two and struck out three in an eventual 14-13 Akron loss. He pitched in relief vs.Toledo, throwing the eighth and ninth innings, allowed one earned run, four hits, struck out three to improve his strikeout total on the season to 23 which ranks him # 3 on the staff. He is the # 4 starter as a freshman and ranks # 4 in innings pitched on the staff this season.

 

RODARRICK JONES   OUTFIELDER   UNIVERSITY OF NEW ORLEANS

 

Ro is hitting .300 on the season, leads the team in stolen bases (7) and has started in left field in 19 of the 24 games so far. He had a 2-for-4 vs. Harvard on 3/26, a 2-for-4 vs. Southern and a 2-for-6 game with three RBI, a double and the first homer of his college career vs. South Alabama on 3/22 in Mobile, AL. Ro was also 2-for-6 vs. South Alabama on 3/21 with a double, two runs scored, a double and a stolen base.

 

RICKY OTT   LHP   UNIVERSITY OF NEW ORLEANS

 

Ricky ranks # 2 on the staff in appearances (12) and # 4 in innings pitched (22). He has walked eight batters, struck out 24 opposing batters, and is holding hitters at a .298 average. Ricky had two superb relief outings, vs. Southern when he threw two innings of one hit relief, walked none and struck out five, and against South Alabama on 3/21 when he pitched two innings with one hit in a 12-5 UNO victory.

 

 

 

 

ZACH KRAHAM   RHP   UNIVERSITY AT ALBANY

 

Zach continues his development as a key starter in his freshman season. He garnered his initial college victory on 3/28 vs. Fairleigh Dickinson, allowing four earned runs on eight hits in five innings pitched, walking three and striking out six batters. In a non-conference contest vs. UNC Greensboro he pitched three innings giving up two earned runs, walking three and striking out four to get his first loss.

 

CONNOR GANDOSSY   CATCHER   SAINT LOUIS UNIVERSITY

 

Connor hit his first home run for the  Billikens, hitting a solo shot in a start vs. North Dakota . He went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and a walk in addition to his homer. He is hitting .250 with four RBI as a backup catcher for SLU.

COLE LIVERMORE…..strained elbow, still inactive for Northwestern.

MIKE FERRARO….hamstring injury, still inactive for San Diego .

GARY DERHAGOPIAN    quadriceps strain, inactive for Siena .

KEVIN BERRY….hamstring injury, inactive for New Orleans .
