Fifth Straight Win Provided by Brazeal Walk-Off Base on Balls

Glens Falls, NY - The Glens Falls Golden Eagles defeated the Watertown Wizards by a score of 5-4 on Thursday.  It was the first meeting of the year between the Golden Eagles against the Wizards at East Field.  With the win, Glens Falls improves to 7-3 on the season.

Todd Brazeal (South Florida) went 2-3 with three runs batted in and two walks—the last of which won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning with the bases loaded and one out.

Starting pitcher Will Hassett (Siena) made his third start of the season and allowed four runs in four innings but faced the first two batters in the fifth inning.  Hassett struck out five and walked three.

Billy Barrett (Illinois) inherited two runners in the fifth and allowed one more to reach base before getting out of the inning with no damage done.  Barrett tossed four and two-thirds shutout innings, allowing only three hits and striking out four.  Jamie Storey (Midland) pitched the last one and one-third innings and struck out one while allowing only one hit.

Glens Falls got their offense started early after Kody Johnson (Pima CC) groundout scored Jonathan White (Vanderbilt) in the first inning and a Brazeal single scored Jon Koscso (South Florida) in the second inning for a quick 2-0 lead.

Nick McCoy (San Diego) added a run-scoring groundout in the fourth and Brazeal added his second run batted in on the game with a run-scoring double.

The Golden Eagles are next in action on Friday, June 20 as they host NY’s Finest Baseball Team in a charity game at East Field at 7 p.m..
