Denault, Golden Eagles Shut Down Miners

Little Falls, NY - The Glens Falls Golden Eagles took the first game of the season against the Little Falls Miners by a score of 2-0.  The Golden Eagles were 8-0 against the Miners in the 2007 regular season before winning the first round playoff series 2-1.  With the win, Glens Falls improves to 4-3 on the season.

Scott Denault (San Diego) made his first appearance on the mound for the Golden Eagles since last summer and the results proved to be worth the wait.  Denault lasted six and one-third innings allowing no runs on five hits and striking out three.  Ricky Anaya (Florida Atlantic) tossed two and two-thirds innings of one-hit ball for his second save on the season.

The Golden Eagles offense was sparked by single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.  Jon Koscso (South Florida) produced a run-scoring groundout in the fifth inning and a Jose Valerio (San Diego) single scored Jonathan White (Vanderbilt) in the sixth inning.  Valerio tallied two hits in the game.

Glens Falls also received hits from White, Chad Stang (Midland), Stefen Romero (Pima CC), Kody Johnson (Pima CC), Luis Feliz (Rutgers) and Nick McCoy (San Diego).

The Golden Eagles are next in action on Monday, June 16 as they travel to Watertown, NY to play the Wizards in a re-scheduled game.  The contest will start at 7 p.m. at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.
