Denault, Golden Eagles Shut Down Miners
Little
Falls, NY - The Glens Falls Golden Eagles took the first game of
the season against the Little Falls Miners by a score of 2-0.
The Golden Eagles were 8-0 against the Miners in the 2007
regular season before winning the first round playoff series 2-1. With
the win, Glens Falls improves to 4-3 on the season.
Scott Denault (San Diego)
made his first appearance on the mound for the Golden Eagles since
last summer and the results proved to be worth the wait.
Denault lasted six and one-third innings allowing no runs on
five hits and striking out three.
Ricky Anaya (Florida Atlantic) tossed two and two-thirds
innings of one-hit ball for his second save on the season.
The Golden Eagles offense was
sparked by single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Jon Koscso (South Florida) produced a run-scoring groundout in
the fifth inning and a Jose Valerio (San Diego) single scored Jonathan
White (Vanderbilt) in the sixth inning.
Valerio tallied two hits in the game.
Glens Falls also received
hits from White, Chad Stang (Midland), Stefen Romero (Pima CC), Kody
Johnson (Pima CC), Luis Feliz (Rutgers) and Nick McCoy (San Diego).
The Golden Eagles are next in
action on Monday, June 16 as they travel to Watertown, NY to play the
Wizards in a re-scheduled game. The
contest will start at 7 p.m. at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.
