Golden Eagles Suffer First Loss to Bombers
Bennington,
NY - The Glens Falls Golden Eagles were defeated for the second
straight night on the road—this time by the Bennington Bombers by a
score of 9-3. The loss to
Bennington was the first in franchise history and came only two days
after Shane Davis (Canisius) no-hit the Bombers at East Field in Glens
Falls. The Golden Eagles
are now 3-3 on the season.
In the same fashion as the
night before, the Golden Eagles took a 1-0 lead before the starting
pitcher even took the mound when Jonathan White (Vanderbilt) tripled
off Bombers starter Keith Rakus (Vermont) and was driven home by
team-RBI leader Kody Johnson (Pima CC).
White ended the day 2-4 with a double, triple, walk and a
stolen base.
White was joined by Johnson
and shortstop Jon Koscso (South Florida) in each collecting two hits.
Johnson went 2-5, keeping his team-leading average at .400.
Golden Eagles starter Will
Hassett (Siena) could not repeat his success from his last outing in
Bennington and lasted only three innings.
Hassett was awarded the loss.
Jamie Storey (Midland) pitched two innings of scoreless two-hit
relief.
The Golden Eagles are next in
action on Saturday, June 14 as they host the Little Falls Miners for
the first time this season.
