Golden Eagles Fall at Shuttlesworth Park

Amsterdam, NY - The Glens Falls Golden Eagles fell to the Amsterdam Mohawks on Thursday, June 12 by a score of 8-2.  The loss gives Glens Falls a 3-2 record on the season.  The defeat was the first for the Golden Eagles on the road, but the second consecutive to the Mohawks.

The Golden Eagles were held to only two runs on six hits by Mohawks hurlers Kyle Putnam (Marist), Brennan Wojdyla (Marist), Mike Kaczmarek (Kentucky) and Sean Gregory (Albany).  Putnam and Wojdyla each allowed one run, with Wojdyla earning the win in one inning of relief.

Stefen Romero (Pima CC) gave Glens Falls an early lead with a one-out homer in the top of the first inning.  After the Mohawks scored two runs in the bottom of the inning, the score would remain the same until a solo homerun by Kody Johnson (Pima CC) tied the contest at 2-2.  Romero has hit three homeruns in the past two games—all solo shots.

The bottom of the seventh inning proved to be the difference as the Mohawks chased Golden Eagles starter Erin Arnett (Indiana) and tallied six runs.

Jarrett Lukas (Maine) added two hits for Glens Falls, raising his season average to .400.

The Golden Eagles are next in action on Friday, June 13 as they make their second trip to Bennington, NY to battle the Bombers at 7p.m.  The next home game for Glens Falls is on Saturday, June 14 when they will host the Little Falls Miners.
