Golden Eagles Fall at Shuttlesworth Park
Amsterdam,
NY - The Glens Falls Golden Eagles fell to the Amsterdam Mohawks
on Thursday, June 12 by a score of 8-2.
The loss gives Glens Falls a 3-2 record on the season.
The defeat was the first for the Golden Eagles on the road, but
the second consecutive to the Mohawks.
The Golden Eagles were held
to only two runs on six hits by Mohawks hurlers Kyle Putnam (Marist),
Brennan Wojdyla (Marist), Mike Kaczmarek (Kentucky) and Sean Gregory
(Albany). Putnam and
Wojdyla each allowed one run, with Wojdyla earning the win in one
inning of relief.
Stefen Romero (Pima CC) gave
Glens Falls an early lead with a one-out homer in the top of the first
inning. After the Mohawks
scored two runs in the bottom of the inning, the score would remain
the same until a solo homerun by Kody Johnson (Pima CC) tied the
contest at 2-2. Romero has
hit three homeruns in the past two games—all solo shots.
The bottom of the seventh
inning proved to be the difference as the Mohawks chased Golden Eagles
starter Erin Arnett (Indiana) and tallied six runs.
Jarrett Lukas (Maine) added
two hits for Glens Falls, raising his season average to .400.
The Golden Eagles are next in
action on Friday, June 13 as they make their second trip to
Bennington, NY to battle the Bombers at 7p.m.
The next home game for Glens Falls is on Saturday, June 14 when
they will host the Little Falls Miners.
