GLENS FALLS -- The Glens Falls Golden Eagles knocked off Saratoga 4-2 on Saturday afternoon to earn a trip to the New York Collegiate Baseball League's championship series.
Kevin Mahoney went 4-for-4 and Brian Moran pitched 8 1/3 innings for the win as the Eagles won the third and final game of the best-of-three Eastern Division finals.
The Golden Eagles will meet Elmira in a best-of-three championship series, beginning Sunday night in Elmira. The teams will play at 4 p.m. Monday at East Field, and if the series is tied, a deciding third game will be played at 7 p.m. that night.
Mahoney hit a two-run homer in the third inning that ended up deciding Saturday's game. He had already driven in a run with a single in the first inning.
Moran, pitching on less than three days' rest, kept Saratoga to four hits until he was relieved in the ninth. Scott Denault got the final two outs on a double play.
