2 Golden Eagles Tabbed All-Ivy
Four players
with connections to the New York Collegiate Baseball League have
been chosen All-Ivy League for the 2007 season.
Brown’s Bryan Tews (Glens Falls ’06) was named first-team
All-Ivy. Princeton’s Dan DeGeorge (Glens Falls ’07) was
tabbed to the all-conference second team. Cornell’s Dominic
DiRicco (Elmira ’06) and Yale’s Joshua Cox (Glens Falls
’05) earned All-Ivy League honorable mention.
Tews, a senior tri-captain, earned his third-straight Ivy League
recognition. Last year, Tews was first-team All-Ivy League as a
second baseman and second team All-Ivy League as a pitcher. As a
sophomore, Tews was chosen All-Ivy honorable mention. Entering
the NCAA tournament, Tews is batting .304 with six home runs and
30 runs batted in. He’s recorded 51 hits, 34 runs, six
doubles, three triples and eight stolen bases. The Park Ridge,
Ill., native played for the Glens Falls Golden Eagles last
summer.
DeGeorge, a sophomore, picked up his second all-conference
selection in two years. DeGeorge was honorable-mention All-Ivy
League as a freshman. DeGeorge batted .298 with 13 runs batted
in. Against Ivy League foes, DeGeorge hit .328 with six RBI. The
Flemington, N.J., native finished second on the Tigers with 96
assists. DeGeorge will play for the Glens Falls Golden Eagles
this summer.
DiRicco, a sophomore, batted .329 with 12 runs batted in. As
Cornell’s lead-off hitter, DiRicco tallied team highs in runs
(31), doubles (9) and walks (25). He finished second in batting
average, hits (46), stolen bases (8) and on-base percentage
(.441). DiRicco started all 20 of the Big Red’s conference
games and batted .307 against Ivy-League competition. The
Portola Valley, Calif., native played for the Elmira Pioneers
last summer.
Cox, a junior, earned his first All-Ivy League selection. He
started every game this season for the Bulldogs in center field.
Cox batted .324 with 16 runs batted in. The junior recorded 24
stolen bases on 28 attempts, a Yale high and the seventh highest
single-season mark in school history. He added 56 hits, 37 runs
and four triples. Cox played for the Glens Falls Golden Eagles
during the summer of 2005. This summer, he will compete in the
Alaska Baseball League for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots.
