Golden Eagles defeat Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH -- Mike Salivar and Justin Mattes combined to pitch a three-hitter as the Glens Falls Golden Eagles defeated the Plattsburgh Thunder 8-3 on Saturday in a New York Collegiate Baseball League game.

Salivar pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing two hits and four walks while striking out 12 batters. Mattes, a Queensbury product, finished up by striking out five and walking two, giving up one hit in 2 1/3 innings.

Darren Clark ripped a two-run home run and a single for the Golden Eagles. Ryan Saltzgaber went 3-for-5 with a double and Queensbury graduate Will Groff added two singles for Glens Falls.

The Golden Eagles (17-28) are scheduled to play today at 7 p.m. in a makeup game at Watertown. It will be the Eagles' season finale.
