Eagles fall on the road

Published on 7/20/2005

WATERTOWN --- The Glens Falls Golden Eagles dropped an 8-4 decision to Watertown in a New York Collegiate Baseball League game Tuesday.

The Eagles led after the first inning, 1-0, then Watertown tied only to fall behind again on another Eagles run. The Wizards tied the score again at 2-2 and went on to win the game by posting runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

Glens Falls starting pitcher Casey Walsh struggled on the mound against Watertown, which at one point loaded the bases.

Tony Clausen hit a triple, Nick Valdez had two hits and Dan Hughes had a hit for the Eagles.

"They got timely hits, they put the ball into play," said Glens Falls coach John Mayotte. "We struck out way too much. I think it was in double digits. That was the difference in the ball game."

The Eagles (12-22) will host the Saratoga Phillies at East Field tonight at 7. O.J. Dechristofano will get the start for the Eagles.
