Golden Eagles drop two games

Published on 7/7/2005

PLATTSBURGH -- The Glens Falls Golden Eagles had begun playing better lately in the New York Collegiate Baseball League, winning three games over the weekend.

But Wednesday the Golden Eagles' offensive struggles returned, as Glens Falls dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Plattsburgh, 4-1 and 3-0.

Gregg Snider pitched the first game for Plattsburgh, a complete-game five-hitter.

The Thunder's Michael Passante had two hits and drove in a run, while Ted Mullen added a two-RBI single as well in the opener.

In the second game, Plattsburgh's Andrew Hancock threw a complete-game three-hitter.

The Thunder's Matt Bouchard, Steve Wyland and Dave Richardson each drove in a run for Plattsburgh (11-12).

Glens Falls fell to 6-18.

"It was a rough 24 hours. We played a doubleheader with Amsterdam yesterday and neither team swung the bat very well with one of those one O'clock starts," said Eagles coach John Mayotte.

The Golden Eagles are back home tonight for a 5 p.m. doubleheader at East Field against Plattsburgh.
