Eagles’ playoff game today
G.F. must win or its season is over

The Glens Falls Golden Eagles' season will live at least one more day.

Heavy rains throughout the area forced the cancellation of Tuesday's scheduled Game 2 of the New York Collegiate Baseball League East Division playoffs between Glens Falls and Amsterdam.

The rainout means Game 2 will be played today at 6 p.m. Shuttleworth Park in Amsterdam, and a potential Game 3 would be played Thursday at 7 p.m.

The Mohawks hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series after a come-from-behind 6-4 victory Monday night at East Field.

"I think the day off will do us a lot of good," said Golden Eagles coach John Mayotte. "We didn't get the day off (Sunday) like Amsterdam did, so it'll be good to rest and relax and clear our heads."

The Golden Eagles beat the Mohawks six out of eight times in the regular season, but coughed up a 4-1 lead Monday to fall.

Mayotte said his pitching rotation would remain the same despite the rainout; Jeremy Hall will pitch tonight, weather permitting, and Stephen Calicutt would oppose the Mohawks in a deciding Game 3.

The NYCBL West Division playoffs, between Hornell and Allegany County, saw Game 1 washed out Monday and again on Tuesday night.

That best-of-three series will now be crammed into two days. Game 1 will be tonight at Allegany County, while Game 2 and, if necessary, Game 3 will be played in a doubleheader Thursday.
