Eagles split twinbill

UTICA -- The Glens Falls Golden Eagles scored two runs in the seventh inning to post a 4-3 victory over the Mohawk Valley Cobras on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader at Murnane Field.

Mohawk Valley won the second game, 4-3.

Jim Jansen picked up the win in the first game with late relief help from Shawn Ryan. David Williams went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Eagles.

Glens Falls' seventh-inning rally began with a Tommy Hill walk and a Corey Rodriguez single. Eric Lawson bunted them into scoring position. Jeremy Goldschmeding drove in one run with an RBI single and Terry Blunt followed with a sacrifice fly.

Mohawk Valley scored three second-inning runs on the way to victory in the second game of the twinbill. Blunt went 3-for-4 with two runs and two stolen bases and Ryan Basham had two hits for Glens Falls.

The Golden Eagles are 21-6.
