UTICA -- Eric Lawson scored the eventual game-winning run on an eighth-inning error as the Glens Falls Golden Eagles defeated Mohawk Valley 2-1 Wednesday in the New York Collegiate Baseball League.
Steven Calicutt pitched a complete-game seven-hitter as the Eagles won their eighth straight game. He struck out eight and walked three to improve to 2-0.
The Golden Eagles (11-2) scored a run in the fifth inning after Terry Blunt singled and stole second base. He came home on Will Groff's RBI single.
The Eagles scored again in the eighth after Lawson's two-out walk. Jeremy Goldschmeding laid down a bunt for a base hit, but the pitcher threw the ball into the outfield and Lawson came all the way around to score.
The teams will meet again tonight at East Field (7 p.m.).
